India has taken a monumental step in its journey towards eliminating tuberculosis (TB) with the 100 Days Campaign for TB Elimination. Launched under the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), the campaign underscores India's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing TB’s social determinants and healthcare gaps.

Why the 100 Days Campaign Matters

TB continues to pose significant challenges in India, including diagnostic gaps, stigma, and undernutrition. The campaign aims to:

  • Detect more cases through widespread screenings.
  • Reduce TB deaths by ensuring early diagnosis and treatment.
  • Prevent new infections with strengthened preventive strategies.

These goals align with India's vision of a TB-free nation by reducing the TB incidence and mortality rates by 80% and 90%, respectively, from the 2015 baseline.

Key Campaign Highlights

  • Screening and Detection: High-risk populations, including diabetics, smokers, PLHIV, and the undernourished, will be screened using AI-enabled X-rays and molecular tests.
  • Comprehensive Support: Patients will receive prompt treatment, nutritional support through Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana, and care from Ni-kshay Mitras.
  • Prevention: Household contacts will receive preventive treatment, with emphasis on cough hygiene and ventilation awareness.

Community-Driven Efforts

The campaign emphasizes Janbhagidari (community participation), involving local leaders, youth, NGOs, and corporate partners to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide resources.

Innovative Execution Plan

The campaign covers 347 districts across 33 states/UTs, featuring door-to-door screenings, mobile medical units, engagement of youth and influencers during festivals/public events, and widespread awareness drives through various media.

Goals and Impact

By March 2025, the campaign aims to detect 2,00,000 additional TB cases, screen 90% of vulnerable populations, and ensure full linkage to treatment and nutritional support services.

This united effort reflects India’s commitment to a TB Mukt Bharat. Join us in this mission to eliminate TB and ensure healthier communities.
